Who's the better late-night host? Leno or Letterman?

I go back and forth, but for the last few years I'm with Letterman all the way.

they are both unique! letterman is off the wall while leno is down to earth. i choose dave myself.

This depends on your style of humor. They are both funny, but have totally different styles. They both do good at the headline jokes, current events. The Letterman goes and sits down and starts his routine of skits, contests, etc. before the guests come out to share. Leno on the other hand spends more time out front talking and joking more. Leno's show has more "high brow" comedy, whereas Letterman's is more slapstick/in your face type. They share the guests (with a few exceptions), so that is not going to a determining factor. I have spent years watching one or the other, and just recently realized that Letterman does do a lot of cussing on his show, which Leno does not do. I appreciate that, and have basically stopped watching Letterman, except when the television doesn't want to pickup the other station very well.

Letterman; when Leno's jokes die, he goes back and explains them, has done so for years, Letterman has never done that, but then his jokes have a low mortality rate :D
