The "Fault in pass.-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt force limiter..." message started appearing a few weeks ago out of nowhere. Any ideas on what this could be and how do I bypass this?

This may be a long shot but, in my mazda the air bag light would stay on indicating something was wrong. It started after my son slid the passenger seat all the way back. I wiggled the wires under the seat and the light went off. There are connectors under the seat and appearently one of them was not making a good connection.

Actually, you do NOT want to bypass this. This particular system, if not functioning correctly, or bypassed, could wind up putting you in danger. If the airbag does not deploy... etc etc.
Play it safe, and do the right thing by taking the vehicle to a certified shop or dealership, and get the codes inspected and the work done on the vehicle.
Good luck.
