Kurt Cobain shot himself. He was a great artist, i love him dearly as well as his music, but he was a very trouble man, mainly because his extreme sensitivity (from there his artistry), and his addiction to heroin, his lack of selfsteem, and the sudden success that he despicted all along.
I suggest you watch the movie The last Days, from Gus Van Sant, the director did a great job capturing the depressive kurt on the last week of his life.
