I have the boss from he**. She is moody, mean and just plain ugly! The crap finally hit the fan when she basically insulted me on the phone and laughed as she hung up. When I talked to her about it, she said "you know this really is not working out for me" I said I felt the same. We have a meeting with HR on Friday at 4pm, ugh, sounds like firing time. I have been with the company almost 5 years with no discipline problem. I have worked for this chick one year only.

Is there another department, supervisor you could be transferred to? How is you work performance? How was it before she became your super. Did you get along with previous supers? Maybe the problem is her. Where did the company find her, promoted up thru the ranks? or from another company where she had management experience? She may not be suitable to be a manager. Does other employees have problems with her? Since you non-respectfully call her a "chick" and bring up the fact you think she is ugly (which she probably can't help and should have no influence on her ability to use her brain), it seems by your comments that its your attitude thats the problem.

My advice is to bring that up to the HR, and tell them that you aren't happy working for your current boss, and see if there is another postion available. If you have been there with the company for 5 years, without any problems then The HR should know you are very reliable/Dependable. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I too have had this problem with a 'boss' and mediation worked great. He was the one with the problem and being able to air each of our own problem with the other to a third party made a big difference (as we had to think about what really peeved us about the other).... and then we worked happily together for another 4 years ... so No definitely not firing time. they obviously value you. don't be scared of saying how you 'feel' how the other person words make you 'feel' and how it reduces your productivity .. prepare as if going for an interview. think about what you will be asked

good luck, don't stress and if she really is as bad as you say then you wont be the first person she has had trouble with so it will be her they are looking at not you :d

Sometimes HR is brought in just as a "mediation" tool. She may feel the same about you as you feel about her. So, sometimes HR is brought in to help clear the air. If they can't, often times they will find you another position, or find her another position, depending on if anyone else is having the same problem. I can't forsee any reputable company firing you over differences with your boss. You are lucky that HR has been brought in so that you have a fair chance to explain yourself versus her just finding something to fire you over.

Hmm I would ask for a transfer to a different department. Be honest with your HR director. In my experience, that always works out best, especially if you have been there 5 years!

If you have had good reviews and a good work record, there is no reason to fire you if you have a personal difference with your supervisor. Talk to HR, listen see what happens, ask for a transfer if it comes to that. Better to be transferred than to be without a job.

Good luck

I would say, yes. A meeting with HR late in the workday on Friday......Definitely sounds like a termination to me.

yes sounds like you are gonna get fired. YOu can always file your own complaint with HR. If you choose not to do so make sure you send any stuff home via your computer. Make sure you get as much in writing as possible, make sure they fire you, don't quit or resign under any circumstances.
