If we could travel at a faster pace than our universe is expanding, we would eventually catch up with it and overtake it (in millions of years). Now supposing we humans could live for enough years to do this, and we decided to chose a brave soul to experiment, what would happen when they caught up with the expansion of the universe and what would they travel into if they kept going? And how did the thing I would travel into actually get here??

What a wonderful idea, Space or nothing is the answer I would think as the universe is still expanding, and it has not hit anything yet! and one day when it starts to contract it will leave the empty space behind it again, This could have happened once before or millions of times before, and could happen millions of times in the future, I have often wondered how the matter got here like who put it there but when I ask myself who put the space there well now that is another question, Also if it were explained to us would are brains be able to take it all in and understand it, would it be like trying to teach a dog about the laws of gravity!!

you would either find yourself travelling backwards or suddenly on the otherside of the universe. However since you could never actually reach or bridge, said edge, as that would be defined as the end of spacetime its not a relevant question.

Howevr things like string theory which believe in multi-universe branes then you would pass through this brane and into another universe. But its really all just theory, it is almost certain in our lifetime that such travel will not be possible.

You basically mean, "what happens when I reach the edge of the universe?"

Not possible, no matter how fast we manage to travel. Space-time is warped, you would simply end up back where you started.

Stephen Hawking describes the universe as "finite yet boundless" - in other words, it is not infinite yet does not have definable boundaries, at least from our point of view.

So, to sum up - invent whatever machines you want, go as fast as you possibly can, you will never, ever reach the edge of the universe. Frustrating, huh?

the soul would find a parallel universe that is just like our universe and everythin would be exactly the same ... thast what i fink!

but i also think that its never going to happen so its pointless talking bout it lol

ponder this, the universe is still expanding, but it never ends. Their is no possible way anyone on this earth can answer that question.
