Hi I was wondering about whether anti-abortionists think BCPS )brith control pills) are wrong? Aren't BCPS effectively silent abortions? If a woman is on BCPS for ten years, in a way, haven't many lives and souls been denied life?

It's just something I have been wondering about. Please don't take it the wrong way. Thanks.

A lot of people do. The Catholic religion is againt birth control pills because a lot of them stop implantation, not conception. So, if you follow that logic, then yes you could be having a "silent abortion" as you put it. But keep in mind only 50% of fertilised eggs attatch anyway (it is called a chemical pregnancy when it doesnt). But with optimum fertility and using certain birth controls (like the IUD) a woman could be having as many as 4 chemical pregnancies a year while still on birth control.

Well since there is no conception that takes place on birth control pills - I don't see it as a "silent abortion" at all. Rather, I see it as a responsible way to avoid unwanted pregnancies and abortions. If there was no conception, there was no life - henceforth no death.

Even if a woman has been on the pill for a long time - there are no real guarantees that she would have gotten pregnant anyhow. The "what if" factor doesn't seem fair because those women on the pill are trying to be responsible with their lives, and the lives of potential offspring.

Sex isn't strictly for procreation - it is also to enjoy your mate, create intimacy in a couple, and for fun! Otherwise, it wouldn't feel so good. :)

Not exactly, abortion is when there is an actual human being growing and birth control is not allowing the human being to ever be made.

You can make the same argument about men masterbating, are they in fact denying life to their sperm? You wouldn't associate an egg or a sperm as a human being but when the two come together and life begins to take form in those 9 months til birth that is where people have the problem with abortion.

I am pro life and I do not think that Birth Control Pill are wrong. I only think it is wrong to end an existing life, but not to prevent it. I think birth control is a good idea so that there are not unwanted pregnancies that then someone has to decided whether or not to abort

well, i dont think that you can group all anti-abortionist together; some people have stronger convictions and different beliefs. i am anti-abortion, but i dont think that all birth controls are wrong. some are obvious like RU-486, which is used to terminate a life. other pills can prevent the embryo from attaching to the uterus wall--these can be questionable because you have to take into consideration when conception occurs. others can either prevent sperm from being released or prevent ovulation. personally, i would choose birth control that prevents ovulation, over one that prevents embryos from attaching to the uterus...

incredibly severe ones do via fact oral contraceptives can provide up a fertilized egg from implanting. i'd think of simpler people who p.c. to cut back or ward off abortions would evaluate them abortion prevention. i'd in no way have an abortion, yet have used the two start administration pills and morning after pills via fact even nonetheless they ward off implantation, this to me isn't the comparable difficulty as aborting a fetus who already has a beating heart and human organ systems.

No at least I don't its a very good way to keep from getting pregnant and your not killing anyone because it keeps you from being able to conceive in the first place I am not against any form of contraception that prevents conception in the first place (not prevents a baby from thriving after conception that is murder in my eyes and Gods),and to the person who said we're against everything you outta get a clue and an education before you start speaking out of turn.

If I own a store and some jerk breaks in and is in the middle of jacking open my safe when I find him, fire my shot gun and kill him. My property, my right but it's still murder. I'm not hurting anybody though when I install a state of the art alarm system to help protect me. Understand? The hormones just prevents any eggs from ataching to the uterine wall. Thus preventing a pregnancy, not killing little living fetuses.

okay, the pill prevents pregnancy in 3 ways. it thickens the mucus membranes to prevent sperm from entering the uterus, it discourages ovulation and then discourages implantation IF the egg DOES get fertilized. but as you can see...it might not be effective on all levels and therefore pregnancy CAN occur. if you are getting THAT fanatical about anti-abortion, you shouldn't spay and nuter animals either! cuz that's killing TOO! come on!

Roman Catholics who adhere closely to the Pope's rulings on such matters are both "anti-abortionists" as you call them (I prefer Pro-Life) and anti birth control pills. You are very correct in your thinking and I applaud your question. I believe Popes Paul VI, John Paul II, and Bendict XVI have all ruled in that way during their tenure. God Bless you.
