Depends. A lake is better for swimming and fishing, while the ocean is better for surfing and deep sea fishing. I love the ocean, but haven't seen it in decades.

The Lake is nice and it depends what lake. The ocean is always better since it is so large a body of water and so amazing. We know less about the oceans then space. By far the Ocean. Just go snorkeling or diving in Hawaii near Maui or Molikini. Just swim in the waters of the Caribbean so warm and perfectly clear as they are in Puerto Rico. Yes the rain forest has beautiful pools of water and water falls but it is a smaller scale. Both are wonderful but the Ocean has my vote.

I think ocean which most of you said because there waves and animals more human life. Lakes are boreding the only time I go is when I go fishing which I don't do much so ocean is my final answer!!

Here in Canada we have the Great Lakes and a zillion others for swimming and fishing and boating in summer, and skating and fishing in winter. The oceans are too cold all year round and too far away unless you live on the coast.

Definitely the ocean. You have so much more fun with all the waves there. And there's also sand on the ocean unlike the lake where you only have dirk and other things. eww

Lake. Calm water and great for skinny dipping under a full moon with that special someone. I also find it's easier to find secluded lakes than secluded ocean beaches.

Both are beautiful. I feel scared when i look into the ocean. Sunset on an ocean. Beautiful. So much history.
