I'm in 11th grade now, but in 7th grade I had that assignment and I wrote about how a rainbow is formed. I created a Sun God and a Rain God and they both constantly fought about the weather (if it should be sunny or rainy out). One day, they fought and together created a rainbow. The Sun God and Rain God stopped fighting, therefore, rainbow symbolizes friendship.

1.a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, esp. one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature.
2.any invented story, idea, or concept: His account of the event is pure myth.
Def. from dictionary.com
use that and take any idea and make up a fake (or something you've "heard" but you know is not true) reason why it happened/came to be, ect.
Ex. Maggots magically APPEAR in food! ----a myth because it's false and flies lay their eggs on the food and the eggs are so small it is very easy to get on the food and they won't be noticed until they become maggots. that was a common myth long ago...
