What he is willing to give up.

e.g. would he donate a body part to save a loved one?
Would he take precious time out of his day to help someone in need?
Would he give much of his money for a worthy cause?
Would he give his expertise to teach someone an important lesson even if not convenient to him?
Would he do all these things and more, and NOT BRAG about any of it - nor even mention it.

That to me is the measure of a man.

How close to God he is.
For many men of god did not have higher educations nor great riches yet they are remembered.
In the physical it is= (Rev 21:17) And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred [and] forty [and] four cubits, [according to] the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
In the Spiritual=( Eph 4:13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
The perfect example of measure of a man is Yeshua (Jesus), The Christ
none have begun to be able to be as he.

Man can design and predetermine his own fate, thus not tied up materially, subjectively, and ideally with the universe
Man is free, able to design and mould the universe according to his formal. material, or final causes-meaning he makes his ideas be a part of the universe by putting that idea together with the matter, thus, creating a reality. In addition his free-will is able to choose that what is important to him in a manner that his desires are satisfied.
This is a Man.

How strong willed he is. Someone who knows what he wants and will do whatever it takes to get it. Someone who doesn't need societal, cultural and religious dogma to live by his own values. A man who is able to evaluate the world at face value on his own terms and come to his own conclusions. The key word here is "will".

I think kyala c said it better though.
