I think that Okur did deserve to be an all-star selection. In the last weeks the guy who is carrying the jazz when boozer when out with injury has been Okur, The guy can flat out shoot for a big man. Does play a little bit of defense and love to take the big shot when the game is on the line. Also, when Detroit won there championship against the Lakers Okur was a key bench player for that team. I alway thought that Detroit made a bad move in letting Okur go.
So I agree with this selection.

Okur sucks and should not have even been mentioned for the All Star game. You have to have some kind of stats to deserve to be in. 18 pts and 7 rebs is just not enough. Randolph should have been selected for sure. It's not his fault his teammates suck. Hell, Iverson played for a sucky team all year. So do Ray Allen, Jermaine O'Neal, Kidd, Carter, and Kevin Garnett . But, it's not about the team, the All Star game is an individual recognition. I don't care if Utah is one of the best teams right now. That doesn't mean they have to have an All Star. If anybody from Utah had to be selected it should have been Deron Williams. He's second in the league in assists. Another player that should have been chosen over Okur is Elton Brand.
As far as Shaq goes. I think he should have enough class to let Howard start. I don't care if the fans voted him in, he just doesn't deserve it this year for only playing a couple of games.

Obviously, you either haven't watched Okur play enough, you dislike the Jazz, or, your biased toward Randolph. Okur is clutch. He's the best shooting center in the NBA, and just recently, was also named the player of the week in the league as well. He's averaging almost 26 points a game over the past month, not to mention the fact, he's also a very solid rebounder, and his team has the third best record in the entire NBA (34-17 only Dallas and Phoenix are better). If anybody got snubbed, it wasn't Randolph, but fellow Utah teammate, Deron Williams.

You are very right. While Okur is playing some very nice basketball for the past few days (his stat lines dont always show it) he got his game together a just recently. If the all star break were later, or Okur played so well for the whole season, yes he deserved to be picked, but he didnt
Also Zach Randolf has every right to be mad about not being on the all star team. He put his personal issues aside and is one of four players averaging at least 20 pts and 10 rebs. (duncan, KG, boozer, and randolf) All of them happened to be selected for all star. And to have similar stats as KG and Duncan, well that just says enough

Utah Jazz r having a great season and Okur is 1 big reason y, especially since he's been stepping it up past 2 weeks since injury of Boozer, and he's made clutch shots all year, and is a very underrated player, and since boozer is out of all star game and year Jazz and Okur himself r both having he deserves it over Randolph for sure

I couldn't agree more with John about Shaq starting in the all-Star game when he barely played all season. Dwight Howard should be starting center for the east. Ask for Okur I agree he doesn't deserve to be an all-star, it should be Randolph. But I think he got skipped over for the same reason Eddie Curry didn't make it. He's on a bad team.

Its not Shaqs fault they just shouldnt let fans vote theyre retards. Zach Randolphs team is terrible just like Ray Allen and Eddie Curry thats why theyre not all stars. Forget about the all star game Okur makes a grip of money thats what really shocks me hes not great hes just ok.

Wow the above 2 couldn't be more right... And I'm right with you on that one... It seems that the flashy players get noticed and workhorses like Curry, Randolph, and Ray Allen don't get noticed... The Shaq deal... People vote for the all star game (since it is for the fans) and they voted Shaq in there... I think they should put a rule if you don't play X many games then you don't play but they won't... But yes flashy players get noticed and that's y they are in the all star game... (I'm surprised that Duncan and Brand are in the all star game though... But they just put up too big of numbers not to be noticed...)
