Hello i have a honda z50 1960 model and i have to put it in second gear and put it behind a car and tow it for a mile for it to go.There is spark but i dont now if there is a nuff spark could it be the coil i cleaned the carby out.Once it gets going behind the car if you start riding it for about 30 minutes you can kik start it because it is worm.THANKS.

Check your points and give them a clean and reset the timing, it isn't the tappets otherwise it would stop when hot, the other fellow got it around the wrong way, they take up the clearance when they are hot, these bikes are notorious for not going or no spark under compression and 9 times out of 10 it is because of dirty points this would also explain why it goes OK on the kick start after it has been running.

Check the cylinder compression. It may need a top end rebuild. Adjust the valves while you're at it. And it couldn't hurt to adjust the points and timing.

if it has adjustable valves they could be too tight holding the valve open when it is cold when it warms up the valve expands slightly and seals ok I had the same problem on a yamaha atv adjusted the valves and it starts easily good luck hope this helps
