I used to give lessons to wannabe models at a salon I worked for...
most agencies are scams making you pay for pictures for your book and to give lessons... if you really have "IT" a good agency will pay for you because they will make that money back from you because of bookings but most people are not that lucky
look up the best agencies in your area and have a consult... remember that not every agency handles the same type models... there are agencies for interesting/unique looking people, high fashion, plus size, catalogue, people of color, men, alternative styles, sporty etc... there something for just about everyone these days
take an honest look at yourself and decide where you fit in... even the most average people can get bookings but must be prepared to pay for the book, lessons as well as agents fees when booked... I have seen girls who didn't have best books but were tenacious and got the bookings anyway (spend the money on the best comp cards for your book, don't do it cheaply, use a great photographer and stylist/makeup artist, it will pay off)

Modeling is a very tough business to get into. Firstly you would need to find the type of agencies that are looking for persons with your particulars. For example, are you considered full figured, petite (5'4' and under), maybe you have great hands, hair, eyes, feet etc. What I am saying to you is that you need to find out what your talents/best attributes are. Do you feel you have what it takes to become a model? Have you perfected a runway walk, have great posture, look well in almost any type of clothing, do you have a small waist, is your body well proportioned? There is alot of different things to consider when entering this business. Why do you want to be a model? Do you like the lifestyle? The money? The glamour of it all? Sit down and figure out what it is you like about the business and then maybe you can zero in on that aspect of the business (make-up artist, hair stylist, wardrobe consultant). Good Luck!

What kind of model do u want to be? their are plus size models or high fashion models .. Plus size models are not FAT their just at a more healthier weight.. there like the average weight for an american woman.. don't be ashamed.. if u feel confident go for it.. Go to modeling agencies & get a portfolio of ur photos... don't pay for anything at a call in they're scamming if they want ur money.. hope this helped a lil :)

Not all models are skinny ... check out the Silhouettes catalog. Several other catalogs use models that are shaped like "real women". If being a model is what you want, then check out some of the better modeling agencies.

Welp, modeling is not as glamorous as it seems.......and yeahhhh, you have to be pretty thin, even tho they are wanting the models to be a tad less skinny, they're still wayyyyy too skinny, and ya know, part of the fun in life, is eating......try acting, you'd have a longer career for sure, and you don't have to be stick thin either

You are indeed correct. Most fashion and runway models are very thin. Why don't you look in to other types of modeling? Not all require a person to be stick-thin.

not all models are skinny. first get in the shape that is not too fat but not to skinny
and make sure you look beautiful when you send in picture but natural beauty, no makeup.
dont be so doubtful of yourself. models come in all shapes and sizes.
you may first start in non-brand ads but you work your way up.
