How can I release the hood on a 99 Chevy Blazer S-10? I snapped the cable while pulling with a pair of pliers. Is there a way to do it without taking the grill off or getting on the ground. I am in the North East and the weather is horrible I do not have easy access to a garage, any suggestions.

Not easy to take the grill off that way.

Might be best to take it to the Dealer Chevy and GMC usualy has the part in stock or can get it in a few days. It sould be a universal part for some other models or go to Good Year, Sears, Firestone,

If your able to get your hand up there feel around and try to pop the hood.

I feel your Pain for the weather. This really is a minor repair it getting the hood open first.

***** Suggestion if you do get the hood open. You could take some wire an temproarly ties it in place outside the until the weather gets better. Beshure it does not flap around near the motor or the fan.

OK you pulled on it and now its stuck. This is what I did with my Blazer. I drove it over a few chuck holes and it popped loose. Now take some white grease and lube the latch release and the latch on the hood and this should take care of any further release problems for the next few yrs
