Because we act arrogant, like we are the only country in the world that matters. Because we scream and howl that immigrants want to "invade" our country and "take what's ours" but it's OK to exploit these same people where THEY live. Because we don't care to help people in Countries that have no freedom of speech or religion UNLESS they have resources we can use. Because we have announced to the world that torture and indefinite detention of terror SUSPECTS is OK. Because we tell everyone that possession of WMD's is a bad thing, but WE can have them.
It's a wonder we aren't MORE hated.

I before writing my answer have read with interest answers already given in this section.And you can spot a mile off the Americans that have put in an answer.
This is exactly the reason people do not like the Americans, and seem blind to what goes on in there own country.
I have picked up on one in paticular that goes beyond plain ignorance and tipifies why Americans are hated so much.
There first statement says that we are all jealous of the American life style,what lifestyle.
A life style where obesity is the norm, and drug abuse is higher than any other country in the world. Great Lifestyle.
They then go on to say about other cultures where people kill there wives,yet again America has one of the highest rate of domestic violence fatalities in the world.
Next they go on about cultures that have multi-wife cultures,yet again they have,nt checked what goes on in there own backyard.
You have whole comunities where Paligamy is openly practised in some states.
A man is allowed to take a 14yr old girl marry her and get her pregnant,then divorce and take another whilst still openly having more children with the first.
One man had 5 or 6 like this each at only 14 yrs old, all lived with him and clearly was having sex with them he had 29 children.
They state that America is a great power and treats it people well,yeh right tell Rodney King that .
Great power! have you forgotten Vietnam,you know the one against ill equiped soldiers in the jungle where you got your butts whipped.
They go on to state that other countries treat people like s**t,and like to keep them under control.
Has she forgotten all those detained without charge,is this not exactly what they say others do but America does'nt.
Thanks to people like this one,people hate Americans!
Ignorant beyond belief,and shut there eyes to what goes on in there own backyard and critisise other who are doing exactly what America is doing.
The person i have picked up on will know who they are,and should be ashamed to write the rubbish they came out with.

Wow George dubbya....we don't hate the US...it is just this whole world domination thing you got going there.
I could write down a thousand things wrong with America...its culkture and its history....
But the truth is...I can forgive every letter of it for one evening with my girlfriend in the East Village...
It's a love/hate relationship George....The US needs to learn to listen...then it will be fine.

They hate the US so much because they have no self control. We act like sex is dirty and Europeans are sick, but we have it on all our shows! We also broke and agreement we made with the Eastern Hemisphere about not messing with thier government and country. We also dont pay attention to the people just money and big companies.

Most countries favor the U.S. But I think people are turning away from us because of the stuff that is going on in the Middle East. One president can ruin our reputation.

well... no matter what other countries are gonna hate whoever's #1 in the world. and thats us, by far. but the stuff George Bush is doing doesnt look good, whether hes doing the right thing or not. and we suck at energy conservation and public education... and pollution... but yaknow i still love the country cuz im free.

Its not the US so much, its the leaders.
They act so arrogant and they think they have the right to invade any country they like just to boost the profits of their businesses.

Probably because the US sets itself up as judge, jury, and executioner of world affairs. Added to that are the propaganda machines and religious fervour's of many countries.

Becuase The USA Runs this whole world. They hate the usa becuase there country can't compare or don't have a history behind them unlike the usa. we continue to police this whole planet and we still continue to do so.

I don't ,i have a fear of flying, so cannot visit your country. My brother has been to New York twice, and is planning going back, be proud.
