I am trying to learn Dutch but I I have found I should have paid more attention in english to begin with. So....."I am = Ik ben" but then there is the passive form that is "I am = Ik word" I am confused as to how to use these two different forms of "I am". Any help would be awesome....thanks!

Passive verbs are "to be" verbs such as "I am, you are," etc. They can also be the following verbs:
to seem
to feel
to appear

The verb "to be" is always a passive/linking verb.
