I voted Democrat because I resent the hold the Republicans have had over the government since their so-called "Contract with America" twelve years ago. I resent that many of our personal freedoms have been destroyed in the name of the "Patriot Act." I resent the hysteria over gay marriage and evolution. I strongly resent that we actually came out to the world in *favor* of torture, and ignore the UN and the Geneva Convention whenever it suits our purpose. I resent that prisoners are being held illegally (w/o right to counsel or a speedy trial) at Gitmo. I resent that the last session's Republican congress met even less often than Truman's famous "Do-Nothing" congress. And I resent that the Republicans have tried to connect the Iraq war to "terrorism," as if the Terrorists were a football team with big T's on their jerseys, whom we can easily destroy in a conventional war.
I hope most of that will change.

To get rid of the DO NOTHING, spend and don't pay for it fascists that were driving our country down the sewer and allowing a mild form of dictatorship to take hold of a once proud and thriving world power into what it has become...point the finger at another party and say they are wrong even though they WERE the party in control. Shameful if not disgusting. We need a third party strong enough to get elected and throw all of the rotten bums out and start from scratch!

really I supported the issues that they ran on...
restoring fiscal responsibility (house has already passed this measure), education finance reform (house was working on this last time I checked, may have passed it, I'm not sure), applying taxes to companies making all time profits, instead of repealing them (not sure if they've passed this?), passing a minimum wage increase (house passed this)...
and also working more trying to making the president explain his actions to the congress instead of just blindly passing his bills... applying some critical thought to the entire situation...
so far, I think they've done very well... politics is often a slow process and many wheels have begun to move... but they've got a long ways to go still...

I didn't vote, only because I knew the democrats were gonna win a majority and it would have been a waste of my time.

I'd like to know that myself; the Republicans may suck, but the Democrats are just the flip side of the same bad penny, and that's all either party is worth.

To bring back checks and balances to an executive branch that had been using executive privilege and power to usurp the constitution and to break the will of the American people. I was tired of the Republican controlled congress rubber stamping Bush Admin. policies. I want investigations and accountability.

I voted for a Democratic congressional candidate because my current (R) congressman is an embarassment to our district and country.

The republicans have shown their true faces. Lies, torture, corruption, spying on citizens, and the idiocy of the war in Iraq.
It was time for them and their cohorts to go far away and never come back to power.

Democrats have a goal of a Goose Stepping Communist Nation.
(But Democrats won't be happy if they lose their Welfare Checks and have to get a job like Republicans.)
