I think we learned in Viet Nam that we can't win this kind of war. I'd say no, terrorism cannot be defeated by warfare. Or if it can, it would require the kind of time and resources that America cannot afford to give.

Here is the answer to terrorism.

President gets on TV, all the channels and says:

"The next time an American dies at the hands of a muslim terrorist, America will promplty nuke every major muslim city on Earth."

Whether or not the president chooses to bluff if it happens is up to him, I would suggest not, but, it would take some balls to risk your entire religions population just to attack america.

That is the only way you can fight the enemy. Consider how Clinton did nothing in response to the Cole, embassy and WTC bombing. They kept coming at us with the culmination of 9/11. You have to fight them and destroy them.
