Hi--
On sunday we came back from New Jersey. I turned on the lights in my fish tank and could not find my catfish. then I looked at the filter. He was sucked by the intake tank. I do not know who killed it. I have a Betta Fish with him. What happened? Please Help. It is still a Mystery I am trying to figure out. Thank You

I agree with.... No Name... he was sucked in by the intake and he couldn't get out and it killed him. You need to make sure to cover your intake(s).

How long were you away? did you put in some sinking food or a vacation food block? Probably not. The catfish could have starved and after dying, got sucked to the filter tube. The betta could not kill it.Or you overfed them before you left and the excess food rotted and caused its death. It may just have been time for it to die if you did nothing wrong. If the intake tube of the power filter doesn't have a strainer then he could have gone into the tube looking for food and the suction pulled it in.

Was he fully grown? If so, there could be so many things that could have killed him. Probably not the betta. If he was little, could he have been sucked against the intake tank tube? I lost 7 baby cories once by forgetting to put on the bottom part of the tube. Broke my heart, as cories are my very favorite fish.

particular fish have poison glads in the spines for the objective of protection. no longer all cory catfish yet a number of them have this trait to boot. the most you'll experience is a bee sting like discomfort that is going away. some fish are a lot worse, attempt sticking your hand in a salt water tank with a lion fish LOL. moral of that tale is do not get inebriated round a lion fish tank, no count how a lot your individuals provide you to puppy it. sturdy success

Cory cats are armoured and are difficult to kill by other fish. Most likely a water condition or it may have been his time to go! Take some water into the local fish room and find out if your OK.

If he was sucked into the filter,he more than likely died from the stress of trying to extricate himself.
Sorry.
