If you want a simple, straight out answer, it is this: In today's society, humans have developed a "man VS nature" kind of mindset. People seem to think nature is a thing to be conquered. it is not. The only way to achieve harmony is by peaceful co-existence.
If you wanted something a little more direct, I have seen so many people, (unfortunately my parents included) knock down beehives anywhere on their property because "they sting." It's pretty sad really. Also, it is the big fear that is associated with bees. Unfortunately, like so many of the others, the bees are running out of places to live. We need them, yet like everything else we depend on, we are destroying it.

Too bad no one is taking your question seriously. Honey Bees are very important to the environment, weather wild or domesticated. The mite was a big threat to them a decade ago, and now, I've heard that its some kind of mold. I wish an expert would reply to you question, so we could both learn something. I hope you ask it again.

I wager that the government created a virus to combat the Africanized honey bee and it is now affecting the good ole domestic honey bee. Good job... Way to go...

The african killer bees are migrating with them so I'm told. Some say it's a sign of Global Warming.
