I have just learned to play chess and would be interested to play online. The only problem is that when I went on the yahoo site to play everyone always wants to chat while playing. Is there a site to play that they don't have the chat room with the game??

I play chess in Yahoo all the time. I don't want to chat either(hey, I'm there for the game, don't want to get hit on) so I just don't answer if anyone talks to me--only hello and good game. I've learned to ignore people who feel like talking dirty--it's the only way to get rid of them, responding only encourages them. But if you think you cannot ignore them, Yahoo chess has a feature that says "turn chat off", just check that and you're good to go. There are other chess sites, like "worldwinner", but I recommend staying with yahoo. It's the best one that I've tried and it's also the most player-friendly. There are also many players and diversity is good. This way you can always learn something new. Hope this helps. Good luck!

purely ignore related to the chatters in yahoo chess. that's what I constantly do. in case you want to attempt something diverse, there is often ICC.........information superhighway chess club. the contest is plenty greater fierce, yet commonly much less chatty. one concern that would help is to alter your avatar to something that doesn't look lady, then you rather will maximum in all probability be left by myself.
