The pay completely depends on where your at.
The job is stressful to say the least. Your handling peoples emergencies constantly. And being a fast typer won't get you a job. You'll have to work weekends and holidays on a rotating shift of days, evenings and midnights. And you may not get any time off the first year. It can be long periods of boredom with short high intensity moments of chaos.... or vice versa.
Pick a place you would like to work at and request to do a sit-a-long to make sure it's something you CAN and WANT to do.

Between 10 and 12 dollars here in Dallas depending on seniority...
But I want to warn you... this is a High pressure high responsibility job. Peopleare dying or peoples loved ones are dying...and they count on YOU for about 8 minutes of thier lives to make things right even though you aren't "there in the flesh".
It's a dangerous bull ride that last for 8 minutes instead of seconds..hopefully by then help should have arrived and you can hang up, maybe get a breath and deal with the next gun shot wound, robbery, rape, car wreck.. or birthing.
And while you get Cue cards with in-depth directions, tips, hints, and help...hopefully you can cut it. And evn more so, that you enjoy it.

Depending on where you live , check your city website for employment opportunities or near by city websites... the title is 911 Dispatcher.... just be warned that you will be working long hours, this includes weekends and holidays. Just be prepared to be able to prioritize calls.
But again check your city website.

Check on line in your area...most counties and cities have a website that lists jobs that they are currently hiring for...it will also list the qualifications I have included a site to look at from the county in which I live....it will give you an idea.
Good luck!
