Hi there, I'm 27 and have been living on my own since 19... Don't be scared, it is a great experience that will help you grow up and take responsibility of your life... I used to feel very lonely at times but now I'm used to it and I LOVE living on my own. Whenever I go home to visit my parents after the first couple of days I start missing my place and privacy.
I can't stress on this enough, but make sure you do your finances right. DO NOT slack on paying your house bills on time if you have you choose between bills or partying. If you mess up your credit you are screwed and have to work VERY hard to get back on track. SO what ever you do make sure you are in control of your spending and house bills.
I had a friend that got himself into a lot of trouble for partying too much after moving out of his parent's house. He kept piling up debt on his credit cards trying to pay for his expenditure. At the end he got evicted and that''l be on his credit for 7 or 10 years.
PS: Keep your house clean and organized... very important in effecting your mood one you walk in the house every day.

I remember when I first moved out on my own. In fact it was in another state and I didn't have any family or friends there and it was kinda scary at first. It took me about 2 weeks to get use to it. I had to get adjusted to the new noises around me. At first it's a little scary and then you think how cool it is that you have your own place and you can do whatever you want when ever you want to. After a couple of months you won't even be thinking about it. Incorporate your family or friends into your new found space to help you feel comfortable. Invite some friends to help you put your place together. Order some pizza's and have some friends stay over. I'm sure you will do just fine.

Start with good housekeeping habits from the beginning. Toss junk mail right away, keep the dishes washed, vacuum regularly, etc.
Buy a plant.
Get a fan and turn it on for white noise when you sleep so every creak and noise of a new place doesn't startle you.
Invite friends and family over once you are settled for a little housewarming. You can show your off your new digs, your independence and if you luck out you might score a few gifts.
My first place was a 1 room furnished efficiency with a 1/2 bath and a 12-in black and white tv. I felt like a queen.
Have fun and good luck.

mmm enjoy being your own boss - you can now drink milk out of a bottle without getting in trouble from your mum, you can watch what you like on tv etc etc,
But it does get lonley sometimes, but at the same time, you will be much busier, now you will have to cook and clean for yourslef.
Even though there is only one of you - you will be surprised how long all that takes - it's hard work looking after one person! But the good thing is you wont have much time to feel lonley!
And its great for your confidence too to have a little time on your own. Living with family is still my number one choice, but some time on your own is really good for you it gave me confidence to know that when i have a family of my own I know im going to be able to look after it.

follow your gut instincts about things .then just have fun spend the first part if the day getting ready for guests and then have a few Friends over for the rest of the day, the next day clean up and decorate some more . take time getting to know your new place and getting used to the noises that come with it that will be the scariest part

i think you should simply have a check list about some things that you can do to help you resist being nervous, such as:
check house/apartment for pests
remember to lock all doors and windows.
bring an old friend with you (stuffed animal)
