In addition to the previous comment about layout, Dreamweaver MX 2004 uses outdated coding and methods to handle layout. A look at your page's source code shows that it's blocked up in tables -- which makes tweaking positioning, padding, etc. next to impossible -- and it contains lots of depricated code, such as align attributes in

tags.

The bad news is, it looks pretty awful and I doubt you can straighten it out in MX, because MX made the mess in the first place.

You should consider upgrading to DW 8 and using DIVs for layout instead of tables; that would resolve many of your problems.

This is where cross brouser testing comes in handy. Each brouser handles the HTML code a little differently. You may have to adjust the page slightly for it to desplay better in IE, but you may lose a little format for Firefox (and even Netscape or Opera). Good to see your testing in other brousers though. Keep up that practice.

Perhaps instead of using a table inside a table use merged cells. IU took a quick peek at your code and noticed that. That could be your problem. To merge a cell in DWMX Highlight the cells you want to merge right click and look for merge cells (If I remember correctly, I don't have the program infront of me currently so I can't check).

I hope this helps. If your going to have alot of people viewing this page test in Netscape, Opera, FireFox AND IE to really get a feel for how it will work. Good luck!

unfavorable little difficulty! nonetheless crammed with desires! No 2 browsers interpret your code the comparable way. this means which you may layout a "trick" to get browser, decision etc in the previous you construct and deliver your web site. on your code, then, you may upload "if then else" applications in all places to get it amazing. you won't be in a position to attain that with any IDE on the industry: you may code... via hand. You do a lot of issues "incorrect", given which you don't comprehend. An occasion: xxxx will paintings with IE, yet no longer with the different. To cater for different browsers, you may desire to write: yyyy humorous adequate, no longer 0.a million% of websites comprehend approximately that! (yet, back, no longer 0.a million% of internet designers are sturdy...) the comparable issues upward push up with table, div, and, surely, CSS... So, layout for IE (5,6,7): they make fifty seven% of browsers. Then, ultimate for Firefox: yet another 33% Then, ultimate for Opera/Netscape: a million.5% forget the others.

I think your main problem is in attempting to float elements over the background image without fixing their positions. Your layout breaks up in Firefox too, if you increase the font size. You're just depending on default spacings and font sizes to hold it together.

You might be able to use CSS absolute positioning to tie things down, or break up the background images and attach the pieces to the appropriate elements.

There is no quick fix for making your web page cross-browser compatible. You can add code to sniff out which broswer the person is using and then display based on the browser.

The best way to go would be to reformat while reviewing in both IE and Firefox.

The table summary attribute should be used to describe
the table structure. It is very helpful for people using
non-visual browsers. The scope and headers attributes for
table cells are useful for specifying which headers apply
to each table cell, enabling non-visual browsers to provide
a meaningful context for each cell.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see "http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL". You may also want to try

service for checking URLs for accessibility.

You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using elements.
