i have a hard drive with windows vista 32 installed on it, but i ordered and installed a new hard drive on which i want to install windows vista 64 (my pc supports 64-bit, so i don't have to worry about that)... when i insert the WV64 dvd to install, after clicking "next" a couple of times, a screen comes up where i have to specify the partition i want to install windows vista 64 on, but it doesn't see any partition at all, unless i connect my old hard drive. i want to know how to make windows vista recognize my new hard drive. any help?

Go to the system BIOS & set the new hard drive as the primary (or first) boot device.
Then Vista 64 will see it as an install option.
Vista will not allow installation on secondary devices ... nor will it on drives that already have Vista.
