I think you'd enjoy EPCOT the best. The Disney - MGM Studios is fun, but there's definitely not as much to do. There's a bunch of awesome attractions and shows at EPCOT, and the fireworks/pyrotechnics/lasers show, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is incredible! EPCOT has a really great aquarium, too! And a lot of wonderful dining options, like the Coral Reef Restaurant and Le Cellier Steakhouse.
Hope I could help! Have fun!

EPCOT is pretty cool, it a futuristic theme park. The rides are fun, some of the best rides at Disney. Also, they have World Showcase there, you can learn more about other countries and also try foods from around the world. Innoventions is pretty fun too, a lot of hands on things.
MGM is also good, a little smaller so you probably won't need a whole day.
Magic Kingdom is a blast, a lot of the rides are more for younger kids, but it is fun to see.
Animal Kingdom is fun, but doesn't have as many rides.
Disney doesn't have any real thrill rides, but they do have a lot of fun rides, problem is that all the parks have a few rides that are great, especially for older Disney goers, so you need to visit all the parks to experience them all. .

Well for your age, you'll probably want a good selection of thrill rides. I recommend Animal Kingdom. There you'll find Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safari (not a thrill ride but amazing) and so much more. Its a really fun park. Or you could get a one day park hopper pass (about $112 a person with tax). That way, you guys can hope between all 4 parks - which is ideal if you only have 1 day. Hope to the Studios and go on Rock N' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Be sure to visit the countries at EPCOT and go on Mission Space and Soarin'. And at MK, go on Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mt, Haunted Mansion and Pirates. You can visit all 4 parks in a single day - I've done it many times! Just figure out where you want to end up that day and make a dinner reservation early. Call 407-WDW-DINE up to 180 days in advance for your dining reservation. I can suggest great restaurants if you contact me at the email below.
A great beach, which is close by is Cocoa Beach. It is 45 minutes to the east on the Atlantic Coast. Cocoa gets good-sized waves, so if you are into surfing or boogie-boarding, you'll have a great time here. They also have a huge arcade.
If you don't mind a further drive, head on down to Sarasota and Siesta Key Beach. It is on the gulf and is GORGEOUS! You'll feel like you've left Florida and entered the Bahamas. :) It is an hour and 45 minute drive south, but well worth the drive.
And I recommend Universal's Islands of Adventure as opposed to the regular Universal Studio park. Islands is so much better - lots of way cool coasters!

Epcot may be the best choice - has rides and the worlds exhibits - best fireworks show!
MGM may be more like Universal Studios
Magic Kingdom is the traditional Disney Park
With MK and Epcot - be prepared to get there early (30 min b4 opening and I think you can still get in) and stay as late as you can - make sure there are no 'specials' that night to close the park early
can't say about the animal park - have not been there yet

It seems that anyone on their first trip to Walt Disney World should visit the Magic Kingdom, but because I don't really know what you're interested in I would recommend the Disney website so you can check out all the theme parks. Visit http://www.waltdisneyworld.com ! Hope I could help! Have fun!

Epcot for Disney parks.
Visit both Universal Orlando parks.
Daytona, New Symrna Beaches on the Atlantic side and Clearwater for the Gulf Coast.

Magic kingdom is probably the best bet for first-timers. All the tourists always go to this park, for the most part.
I've never been to Animal Kingdom, but I've heard it's good.
Don't waste your time with MGM. It's a pitiful version of Universal Studios, with only two real rides.
EPCOT has Mission: Space, Soaring, and Test Track. Plus, the world showcase has a lot of opportunities to take a look at other countries... And their food. : )
For your situation, I say Magic Kingdom.

Orlando is not close to the beach, it's in the middle of no where.
Two college age students should be headed to NYC, Europe, LA, Seattle, etc. Disney is a place for families taking their kids. Doubt you will have much adult fun, unless that isn't what you want to begin with. Of course the exception would be is if your fun is with each other.
