It will create bias and possibly racism but whether it's bad or not, it will happen no matter what. Most people just flock towards people who have their views.
I am the opposite. I can't stand anyone who reminds me of myself.

It's simply human nature for us to gravitate towards like-minded people. And why not? We share the same interests, like the same movies, listen to the same music, laugh at the same jokes. It just makes more sense, and it is how we are most comfortable. It's part of our pack-animal mentality.
That isn't to say that we should "stick to our own races." There are plenty of people from our own races that we have absolutely nothing in common with, and plenty of people from other races that we would get along with swimmingly. We're discussing personality and character, not race and creed.
There are, however, certain factors that may make it appear that races seem to "stick together." First of all, they DO tend to, even if they don't mean to, or if they do it subconsciously. Second of all, personality and character are formed by culture just as much--if not more so--than by genetics. And the various cultures and subcultures of the world tend to have a lean toward one race or another. Meaning that if we belong to subculture A, there is a good chance that we are race B. Most of our friends also belong to subculture A, and therefore most of our friends are also race B.
So, yes. I'd say that it is okay for "birds of a feather to flock together," so long as they aren't afraid to venture outside of the flock, or welcome outsiders into the fold. An open mind is an open world.
Two cents.

The phrase just means that people who are alike should be together. This can mean similar intrests or abilities as well as race. The quote is in no way racist.

It's ok and the majority of people do that. Racism isn't about being comfortable with your own. It's about power, political, social and economic.
