She's been having contractions the past few days, and today it was much worse. She was in pain for about an hour with false labor, or so she calls it. If she were to go into real labor today, would the baby be all right?

I am 35 weeks myself and having the same problems. It most likely is braxton hicks contractions(false labor), but could turn to real ones. At 36 weeks the lungs are fully ready so she and I are both very close, and 35 weeks isnt real early. Good Luck!!

I would like to understand who instructed you 36 weeks is preterm. If it is your health care provider, you must see a physician that has customary experience. They don't forget 37 weeks early full term. You probably have your baby at 35 or 36 weeks, probabilities are it will be NICU even after you are released from the health center. You can't throw yourself into the tip of being pregnant, and you can not throw your self into labor anyhow. Those are all ancient wive's testimonies. Sex most effective works to feel the cervix and running most effective works if you are in active labor. You cannot do it that manner until you wish to have a child that is going to very likely have significant problems with their lungs. Stop being egocentric, care for the aches and pains in the final a part of pregnancy, and baby will come when it can be competent. Looking to result in at 36 weeks is simply selfish,b/c it can be not pre term and the causes you wish to have to do it's egocentric. The medical professionals will only set off/provide a c-part at 36 weeks if it can be a scientific emergency.

Odds are very good that the baby and your wife will both be fine.

Thirty years ago, five weeks early was not so good, but with the advances in prenatal and postnatal care, it's hardly anything. Basically they'll just watch the baby a little closer for the first few days.

By 35 weeks, all of the baby's vital organs are functional, his or her lungs are ready and able to breathe the air around us, the baby's weight is sufficient to keep it healthy. You really don't have anything to stress over.

Congratulations to you and your wife on your soon to be arrival! May her labor be short and easy.

That's a month early and all things being ok until now...she and the baby should be fine. What is the estimated weight? Remember....babies don't have a calendar and the due date is a prediction with lots of variables. Labor can often be stopped by her doctor...don't hesitate to get your wife in. Hospitals are very patient with Braxton-Hicks contractions and won't belittle you for a false alarm.
Good Luck!

Well the say that the safe sone is 36 weeks but if that doctors says that the baby has been fine and the lungs are developing good then the baby should be ok. They allow women to have there babies at 6 months, any time under that they would try to keep the babie in.

Yes to your Question. My twins were born at 32weeks,they were very small babies and had to stay in hospital for a few weeks but with to-days tech your baby will be fine and also depending on the birth weight of your baby and the delivery and if no complications. Good luck and have a safe arrival.

I had false labor several times starting at 32 weeks gestation, and my doctor said that the baby would need medical care if I delivered too early, but would live.

Good luck, and tell her to hold on as long as she can. Even if it's real labor, there are meds to stop it if her doctor thinks it's too early.

well, 35 weeks isn't the BEST time to deliver, but the baby SHOULD be okay. there is a CHANCE the baby;s lungs haven't developed fully yet. my last baby was born at 36 weeks and i had steriod shots six weeks earlier just in case. but there could be complications...nothing serious, but it might require a longer stay in the hospital than the normal 1 day thing. good luck and HOPEFULLY your wife can hold out just a bit longer!

The baby would survive - and could possibly be large enough to be a regular birth...but most likely would go to NICU for a little while at least to make sure. Most 35 weekers only need a few days to a couple of weeks before being released.

The baby would have to be monitored in the hospital for a couple days or weeks but all babies are different! Good luck and I hope everything goes OK.
