Sorry to tell you, but many women get pregnant while STILL ON birth control, so it is always a possibility. If the first day of your last period was about two weeks ago, you are the most fertile right now (most likely to get pregnant). One thing you could think about if you are worried is emergency contraception. The sooner you take it after the "accident" the better. It is most effective w/in 72 hrs after intercourse (the sooner the better). If you are 18 or older, it is available w/o a prescription (otherwise you'll have to see your doc). Depends on the state...some you can get it at the pharmacy counter. Contrary to what a lot of people will say, it is not an abortion. If the egg has already been fertilized, then it won't work...it just makes an unsuitable environment for fertilization to happen if it hasn't already. However, if you have had problems w/bc pills, you may have similar probs with e.c. because it is basically a mega dose of birth control. Some clinics will actually use different birth control pills and just tell you how many to take and when to take them. I am definately not telling you what you should or shouldn't do...just making you aware of the option. A pregnancy test won't tell you anything yet if you are worried about something that happened last night. Its a not fun waiting game...wait until you are due for your period, and if it doesn't show, you may want to get a pregnancy test. Also, you may want to ask your doc about nuvaring. I had tried pretty much everything out there and had problems with it all, but I only have GREAT things to say about nuvaring. It is a much lower dose of hormones than other forms of bc, plus is super easy. Good luck!

Hate to burst you're bubble, but no you don't have to be off birth control for 3 months before you can get pregnant. I was taking the pill (granted I did miss a few here and there, but not completely off it) when I got pregnant with my second child. Getting pregnant really depends on where you are in your cycle. If you don't want to take bc but don't want to worry about "accidents" then maybe you should check into getting an IUD or something along those lines. Talk to a professional about your options.

You have to remember that you can get pregnant after missing only one or 2 pills....so, if you've been off it for 3 weeks, there certainly is a chance you are pregnant! Your best bet is to get a pregnancy test. If it comes out positive, go to a doctor and get a blood pregnancy test to confirm.
Yes, some women have issues getting pregnant when they get off of BC, but that is only 'some' women, and those women were on BC for many years, not just 1.
