You might want to consider popping the hood and blowing out any dust and debris from the inside paying special attention to the fan. It could also be you are running too many programs at once, putting too much strain on the CPU, which will heat up, causing the fan to come on. It is not unusual for a fan to need replacement. Cheap, and easy to do.EDIT: Oh, I just realized you meant a noisy HARD DRIVE! Yes, when it starts making a grinding type noise while working, it's time to backup all your data and prepare to replace your drive. It may work just fine for years, or it could cease to function much sooner, so BACKUP!!!

The hard drive does not have a fan. Your processor may have a fan, your power supply has a fan, and your video card may even have a fan.
Dust often gets in fan motors and makes them make noise. You can blow the dust out, but the noise may not stop, in which case you will have to either put up with the noise or replace the fan.

THere is usually no fan on your hard drive. It's normal tfor your computer to sound like a jet plane taking off, a machine gun, or even a jumbo jet! Nothing to worry about unless the noise is very very loud, in that case, go to a computer repair place.

last I checked, hard drives don't have fans. It is probably the CPU or power supply fan you hear running.
