The person above is incorrect in terming the California High School Proficency Exam as a GED. It is not. It is a true high school diploma and is accepted on an equal basis as a regular diploma by the University of California system and most other universities in America.

If you pass the CHSPE, you then need to pass the exit examination, and then you can legally leave school.

They offer the California High School Proficiency Exam twice a year. If you pass it you can get your diploma early. But...please don't drop out. If you are being bullied talk to someone about it to get it stopped. A GED is pretty much worthless in reality. They say it's equivalent to a real diploma, but most employers don't look at it that way.
