I received an email with a telephone number to call from my cell to sign up to receive no sales calls on my cell. I am a little anxious about dialing a number on my cell because of caller id and then, wham, they have my number. Is it true and if so, what is the telephone number to call to stop the calls coming on any of my telephones.

Both the USA and Canada have National DO NOT CALL LISTS.

I've put all my phone numbers; landlines and wireless on the list just to be on the safe side.

You can sign up to have your phone numbers placed on the lists.

Here's a similar service in Canada: https://cornerstonewebmedia.com/cma/submit.asp

If you are in the USA it is a good idea to get on the Canadian list as well as the USA list because junk faxers often call from Canada to the USA. I've had mystery fax calls coming in at all hours and the caller ID says "Out of Area". The phone company reps tell me those are junk faxes coming in from Canada.

The phone company suggested I sign up for the Canadian Do Not Call List. I've not had any more junk calls.

As to wireless junk calls, put your wireless numbers on the US list just to be safe.

I used to be stationed at Camp Stanley (2ID). I have visited Casey many times. If you go, you won't need to know Korean (the Koreans on post and in the immediate area can speak English. Finding work will be difficult. You will most likely spend a lot of time at your apartment. Serving in Korea is tough. It's considered a hardship tour. Your husband will work late, frequently. He will go to the field often, and this will put a lot of tension in your relationship because he will be under a considerable amount of stress. I'm not saying you shouldn't go, but if you do, you must understand that things will be difficult, and your relationship willl be tested. I have seen Korea destroy relationships and marriages. If he gets into any kind of trouble, the first thing his CO will tthreaten him with is to move him on post (into the barracks). If that happens, you will have to leave; you cannot stay off post alone. . It may be best for you to stay home; it will be a lot less stress on your husband.

This is the age of capitalism, this is America, the United states of America and who knows what tomorrow will bring in this land of milk and honey. People want to make money and if you start getting sales calls on your cell phone you will eventually adapt to it and eventually someone will make money coming up with how to prevent people from getting sales calls on their cell phones, so don't be a worry wart, it'll all work out as long as you don't push the panic button. Okay? Cool.

Yes, cell phone owners will start to receive sales calls. Lots of these places that generate the calls use random dialers, so eventually, they'll hit your cell that way. They also may buy cell phone numbers from whoever your cell phone company is, so you can expect to receive calls for that reason, too.

face it: there's no place to hide from these people!

You could try putting a block on your cell phone through your service provider.

I would recommend a do not call registry, however, I just don't believe that they actually work (at least not with my home phone, and as for my cell phone I don't give ANYONE my number that I don't plan on calling, i.e. family, friends, etc.)

Do a search on the web for national do not call list....you'll find a source to register your home phone as well as your cell phone. Don't call the number you have.

depends on what service you have. Verizon as agreed not to sell its customers numbers, however, if you ever sign up for a website or a contest and put your cell number there - then yea - companies can call you.
