I have an art assignment due next week in which the class has to draw a pun -- ex., for horsefly, you would draw a flying horse, or for the expression "raining cats and dogs," you would draw exactly that.

Anyone have any ideas?

Collect several different puns. Write each on a separate piece of paper. Put the pieces of paper in a bowl. Without looking, pick a paper from the bowl.

You have now complied with the assignment: You have drawn a pun.

BlueFeath, that's a clever answer. Thinking outside the square.

Now, Cecily, the expressions you have given are not puns. 'Raining cats and dogs' is a metaphor.

In a sign language class I took, the teacher would sign "understand" as the sign for "under" (one hand under the other) and "stand" (two fingers "standing" on your hand) together. So it would be one hand with the other hand "standing" under it.

Understand?

Draw a person standing up, upside down under something, M.C. Escher-style.
