Frederick Douglass was an American abolitionist, editor, orator, author, statesman and reformer. Douglass was one of the most prominent figures of African American history during his time, and one of the most influential lecturers and authors in American history. He spent his life advocating the brotherhood of all humankind.
Douglass spoke all over about the abolition of slavery, and was a former slave himself. He published several newspapers, wrote an autobiography and participated in the Seneca Falls convention, where he signed the declaration of Sentiments.

Douglass was the foremost public orator of his time. He started off as a slave and escaped to the North. He was the son of southern white and a black slave. He traveled extensively in the cause of freeing the slaves.

He was an abolitionist. he was also an editor of a very popular news paper at his time. He was very involve in politics. He was the us ambassador to Haiti in the early 19th century.
