If you were relocating to a different place to live and could choose where and what (city, small town, country), what/where would you choose?

We are thinking of moving South, but hesitate to leave our family. We are getting very tired of fighting the winters. I would prefer a small town atmosphere.

In the US? Savannah, GA or Amelia Island, FL, would be among my favorites. I like small towns (like Amelia Island) with proximity to bigger places. I also like gracious cities like Savannah. I prefer the South. I particularly like Southerners and find them and their lifestyle charming. It's quite a change from where I grew up. I LOVED the garden district of New Orleans before Katrina and the French Quarter too...but I haven't been back there since so I'm not sure how they fared.
In Europe, I love some of the smaller Swiss villages and towns....Luasaunne is my favorite. (I'm sure I spelled that wrong). It sits on Lake Geneva in the foothills of the Alps and is right across the water from Lucerne which is considerably bigger.
I also wouldn't mind living in parts of Paris. Even though it's huge, it has an old world charm that is all it's own. There is nowhere like it in the world.

I would choose a medium size city that has an excellent transportation system to make driving around easier. For instance, I live in PA so I would steer clear of Philly or Pittsburgh. I'd opt for maybe Portland or another part of Oregon. Maybe somewhere in Vermont or maybe Boulder, CO. I need to be around more up-beat people like me so the place would have to have intelligent and fun people too. Maybe Seattle? If you know of a place like that let me know where it is, please.
PS. I wish I WOULD move.

I don't think I would want to relocate but if did I would stay close by my family. I would not like living far away from them and not being able to see them as much. I would love to live in Florida but it would just be too far away from my family.
