I am a Bio major, Chem minor. I participate in class and talk to my profs after class or in their office hours. What more should I do to ask them to write me a letter?

That's really all you need to do. Now, just go up and ask. Of course, I'd phrase it politely. Asking if they feel "comfortable" writing a letter for you is the recommended phrase to use. Not too direct so they feel backed into a wall.

Some might have requirements to write (I had professors that would only write if you got an A, and didn't care if you ever talked to them before - these aren't the greatest letters), but you'll never know if they'll do it unless you ask.

Most professors I've known are willing to write letters of recommendation for their good students. Just make an appointment to meet with them after class and ask them.

You go to their office during office hours, tell them where you are applying, and ask them politely if they'd mind writing you a letter.
