I know that many will say that its their choice not yours. But it is your choice by how you raise your kid. What he plays with, who he hangs out with, what he watches. The question does not have to become gay but either more masculine for boys and more feminine for females. Would you be ok with a son that shows more of a feminist side and a daughter that becomes a butch.

I don't believe that this is something within the parent's control.

For example, I was out hammering up roof shingles and playing basketball, football, and baseball by age 10. Was out climbing trees, falling off of roofs, wearing the torn up, ratty jeans, playing in dirt, rigging up go-carts, watching Saturday morning cartoons, and everything else typical boys did. I hung out with other guys who were also into sports and we all did the typical "masculine" things guys do... including getting into the occasional scuffle.

And I'm still gay. Still play sports, am out on the beach surfing the waves every morning, go camping, fix cars, and do everything short of grabbing my balls and grunting like an ape. Masculinity and sexual orientation just aren't all that closely linked. I don't doubt that environment might play some role, but I just don't think that upbringing has played any factor in my case, so it naturally makes me very skeptical of the role it plays in others.
