We take a lot of our things that are still in good condition to a battered womans shelter. When these woman leave they run with what they can carrry and usually that is only their children. I *personally* think they need it the most.

Salvation Army or the Goodwill. Maybe put the carseat and stroller on Craigslist and donate the swing to a daycare or to a church for their nursery. Maybe even call the YWCA and see if they take donations (I'm pretty sure they do).

You can donate them a local mission organization such as Salvation Army or the like. Sometimes they will not take items such as these for safety reasons. If that is the case, you can lookin your phone book for pregnancy or child services that would be willing to take them. Some churches also will know of people in need of these items. At the very least, you can put an ad in your local paper in the Free section.

If you have a Vietnam Veterans of America chapter in your area, you may be able to donate the items to them (see link below). The VVA runs thrift stores where they sell most goods that are donated to them. The profits are then used to fund programs that help veterans.

Wherever you donate the items, you might want to think about getting a receipt for tax purposes. Many donations can be used as deductions when tax time comes around.

I'd also like to suggest calling your local women's shelter or homeless services. It may be that your donation can be used to help there.

Good luck!

Goodwill or Salvation Army, or a daycare center for the swing and stroller.

If they're in really good condition, you can get some money for them at a children's resale shop. I recommend a chain called Kid to Kid (www.kidtokid.com) and you can check their website to see if there's a location near you. If not, I'm sure there are other places that have the same idea. Another idea is to take the stuff to a consignment shop, though, I have to admit that I'm not really sure how those things work.

Check around with local churches. Many of them have special benevolent programs designed to help burnout victims and other needy people. They would probably do the best job of placing the items with the people needing it the most.

Call your local high school and ask if there is a local center that helps teen parents.
Many of them really struggle financially and can not afford items that are of high enough quality (and age) to be safe.

Your local Goodwill Store or Salvation Army. Make you sure you get a reciept so you can itemize it on your taxes next year.
