You don't say when it is due...

If you have some time.. try something like growing plants in various materials/conditions .. pick a plant that is easy to grow like beans...

Or, you might even get some white flowers, cut them and put them into colored water (say one into red, one in blue, one in purple..etc) or colored vinegar (not sure what that will do).. etc to see how much of the color the flower will absorb (some really cool looking flowers at the flower shop are made this way)...

Perhaps you could even split the stem of a couple and put the different parts into different colors so the flower has 2, 3, or 4 colors in it...

Or, maybe you could cut strips of white paper towel and hang them up and put capfuls of different liquid substances under them to see how far up the paper towel the substance will soak (some things will even seperate into different colors as they go up)

I remember back when i was in school doing a few science projects.I don't know how much time you have but here's a good one.Explaining molding.I left a bread out for days until it molded. In my project I explained how long it took for the bread to mold, defined mold, and why does bread mold.To keep kids from messing with my bread I had it laying inside of a zip lock bag.

Maybe this is vain, but I'd like to know which nail polishes really stand up to chipping.

Get a few different kinds and try chipping them (paint them on plastic, or fake nails or something.) See if they chip.

Also, try putting them outside to expose them to UV light (keep one sample inside for comparison.) See how much they fade or get damaged in the elements.

Something like that--something that has a comparison between different things. Like toothpaste, detergents, stuff like that.

Or try growing plants with different types of fertilizer.

Something where you demonstrate a difference between groups. Keep one as a control, and compare it to the rest.
