Does anyone have any quotes from the crucible, supporting the use of dramatic, verbal, and situational irony by Miller?
I have an essay due tomrrow, and everything is written up, except for the direct quotes, and I lost my copy of the play.

do you need direct quotes? or just citations? because in my essay about The Crucible i was allowed to use direct quotes, paraphrases, and summaries...but i had to do the research prior to writing the essay

anyways remember when John Proctor says Elizabeth never lies after he confesses that Abigail is a whore....Elizabeth lies...that's irony

remember all the accused are innocent but are deemed guilty...that's irony

in the end the judge tells Proctor he doesnt want to here a lie but he wants to hear Proctor admit he is a witch

Reverand Hales is the good guy in the play in a sense. He quickly figures out how corrupt the town is and in the second act tries to convince the town that the girls are lying. He is very religious and is a very honest man. John Proctor is the biggest male part Reverand Hales is also fairly large (I think those are the two biggest male roles, however there are also a lot of smaller roles that still have a good character base and good amount of lines) Elizabeth Proctor, Mary Warren, and Abigail are probably the biggest female roles

You can't really have something written up...usually direct quotes make specific points. You are just plugging in...you discuss the quotes within writing. My best suggestion is to try and contact a fellow student or go to a library...they should be open. If they're not, you have really left it until the last minute.
