Lamar Hunt (former owner of the CHIEFS), R.I.P., named it the Superbowl to help give it some extra pizazz when he was selling the idea of having the old AFL and NFL champs play to see who really was the best.

lamar hunt wanted to give it a cool name and once he saw his daughter playing with a superball and thought of the name SUPERBOWL.

I believe the commish of NFL at the time was sitting at his house and his daughter was playing with a Super Ball. He told her to'be careful with that Super Ball' and the idea was born.....at least I think that's how it goes!
