I am looking for somewhere to move that has a better job market than Michigan. Is there a website were I can see how the states' economies are doing? I'm thinking about moving to New York or West Virginia, how are they doing?

I'd say Chicago is the way to go. I, however, recommend Chicago to everyone I come in contact with. I absolutely LOVE my city!!

I would avoid West Virginia. they're economy has been declining for the past 50 years and people keep moving from that state. More people lived there 30 years ago than today, it's not a good place for jobs at all. Being a miner is considered good employment there just as an example of the lack of good jobs.
The area around Washington DC in northern Virginia has a really good job market, especially Fairfax and Loudon Counties. The fed govt has contracted a lot of private companies to do work for them so that area is exploding with govt related jobs in the private sector. But the cost of living is higher there as it is in New York too.

CA has the 6th largest economy in the world, right up there with France. So there are always good jobs in that state, but the cost of housing is really expensive.

Arizona and Nevada are also growing really fast and have tons of jobs, especially in the Vegas area. Those areas grow fast for a reason, tons of new jobs are created there. Places where the population is growing fast tend to have good job growth. I've noticed a lot of Michigan transplants in the Arizona forum. So you might want to ask people from Phoenix and Vegas what kind of jobs are there. But I do know there are tons of jobs there and housing is cheaper than NY, CA, and DC.

I've noticed a lot of people from Michigan wanting to leave b/c of the economy on this site. anyways, good luck finding a job wherever you end up.

Anyplace in the sun belt. Tennessee is growing and so is Arkansas. California is hectic with way too many people. Rule Chicago out as of today.....check the weather channel.
