It wasn'r only the Scots who got skelped. I got skelped an'all.
To answer an answerer. It's not abuse to administer a smack with only the flat of the hand, never on the head or torso - bum excluded as a final resort and never in anger. It's called discipline, something that is sadly lacking these days. Skelping is just the northern term for a smack.

Who the hell coined the phrase, Skelped? Anyway, I've only had my *** tanned once in my life when I was about 9 or so. Right on my bare *** too. Got thrown in bed for an hour. Cried for half an hour. That bloody well hurt. Skin's real tender at that age.

Alot of it depends on what function you see God performing. In many religions, God acts as an overseer of humanity. And if you think of God as being represented in every aspect of creation, then those 'young' aspects of creation must also reflect aspects of God, either as an Is or Was. To answer your question, God both Was and Is young.

My father used to hit us with the buckle part of his big leather belt, he'd be put away for that today, its horrible seeing kids been hit on the backside or anywhere else for that matter.
