I've been playing guitar for many years. When I was a teenager, my mother begged me to learn the saxophone. I was going to give it a try, but I just naturally gravitated to the guitar. Sometimes that's just the way it goes. If you are strongly drawn to both instruments, then give them both a try.
Do you sing or hope to sing? That can be a deciding factor. I read that Paul McCartney used to play trumpet when he first became interested in music. But when he realized it would hamper him from singing, he dropped it and moved on to guitar.

Although I don't know much about the saxophone i do know that it plays jazzy music and the levers get confusing. so I think that guitar is better, for one thing if u can it in a bunch of different styles. I play the guitar and its pretty easy and I'm sort of the same way i got frustrated with my acoustic guitar but when i got my electric the strings on it weren't as thick so they were easier to hold down. the only thing is to learn the strings but if u get an auto tuner it will usually say what they are.

reading music written for saxaphone is a lil easier than the grand staff, but i havent read music since like 12-3 except for the odd sheet music ive come across. im not fluent with either playing or reading.
now about 3rd grade, i started on sax, havent played since about 7th, but remembered about 7 weeks back. started guitar and some bass, then piano, organ, etc. who cares if your illiterate? just play. i read like a 2nd grd level when it comes to music with little understanding of what it is. it just takes to long to think about the "drawn chord" im seeing on the paper. it takes practice, and i havent.
just play

i really think the guitar would be better because you there are other ways to learn the music off of the guitar like using numbers for the diff type of strings (numbers and letters)
