I am soo sorry. And you have gone to a lot of trouble. All I can think of it to give it to him, and just maybe he will cherish it so much he will frame it. I am serious, people do that.
Don't feel too much the idot, though. It happens to the best of us.

Don't worry so much about it i'm sure he loves you with or without the shirt.
You can approach the problem in a few ways to cover up what was a genuine mistake.
Give him the shirt and wait for his reaction, you could be surprised and find the top still fits him anyway.
You then need never explain your mistake as it won't matter, just smile and he'll never know.
If it does'nt fit ,blame the shop say they told you that size would fit his size.
Make a little scene of how angry you are with the shop,he will most probably tell you not to worry about it and laugh.
Now of course there is the male prefered option, and i almost promise you he will love it.
When he gives you your valentine present simply go and get his shirt, put it on yourself with very little else.
Walk back in and say "happy valentines",i recon he'll be more than happy with his present.
And the size of the shirt won't matter one bit,he'll be happy with whats in it YOU.
Hope this gives you a few ideas of how to get round your problem and hope you and your b/f have a great valentines.

I know this is a little dishonest...but maybe you could go back and say the store gave you the wrong size and they might give you another?
Or else cut the slogan and then get a black or white t-shirt and have the slogan part sewed on professionally....it shouldn't cost too much

If he is cool, he will appreciate the effort and love you for taking the time to have a t-shirt made for him wrong size or not. It's the thought that counts. I truly believe that.
Danielle had a good idea too.

Cut out the slogan and sew it on to a t-shirt that does fit him. Or even quicker get some of that iron on sticky stuff.

The wrong size..bigger or smaller, that makes a world of difference. Too large is fine, tshirts can be worn big.
But if its too small the only alternative i can think of is to stuff it, sew it up and make a pillow for his bed or sofa out of it which will be totally unique!

i honently wouldn't worry about it i'm sure if you tell him the truth he will understand just be honest with him. if you take it back to shop and say that it is the wrong size i am sure they will change it for you. i know you won't have it for tomorrow but its something for him to look forward too getting.
i'm sure he will understand - it honestly isn't that bad.

If it's too small for him then you can always ask him to go on a diet, I'm sure he'll fit in it.
If it's too big you can always ask him to put on some weight.
Otherwise just keep it for yourself.

I'm sure he'll love it regardless because you went to the effort and cost of getting it for him and if he doesn't - then dump his ungrateful butt!

Well, if it's too small, maybe put it really neat in a frame, and have him hang it on his wall, plus it will never be dirty and he will always have it.
