Often Americans live over seas but never venture out of the immediate area. They go to stores that cater to the Americans, restraunts, bars, etc. but never learn the culture, language, customs, etc. of the people where they are living. I saw this in the military in Germany,.......what a waste of time.

Americans do tend to be a bit insular, don't they. I suspect it's because of a cultural insecurity. Most Americans don't have much of a grip on any language but their own, and that's tenuous in many cases.

Most people regardless of where they are from seek the familiar. They want things they know. When you add in how arrogant many Euro's are when they learn you are an American and want to argue and rant at you about why they disagree with us, why bother. I used to tell them I don't discuss politics and that would just fire them up more. Most times I had to tell them to piss off. Better to just take a few tours, but stay at the club, watch the satelite tv.

no longer real. i have been to Scotland, England, and Mexico numerous situations. human beings are workaholics and do not particularly have the vacation time to shuttle. to boot, america is so massive and variable that you'll shuttle everywhere in the country and be uncovered to a variety of human beings, animals, cultures, plantlife, nutrition, etc...you do not ought to go away the country to adventure something different. I also imagine that the weak greenback now plus severe gas expenses make it that a lot more desirable expensive to shuttle and individuals are not keen to pay for what might want to be seen a luxurious. i might want to like to be in a position to shuttle around the global more desirable many times, although that's no longer accessible because i visit't have adequate money it and that i visit't take damage day from artwork. i imagine maximum human beings are in that challenge.

might be the fact that most of the world hates americans, or maybe they dont like walking around with a big bulls-eye on their back....when i was overseas before the collapse of communism, i went everywhere cuz i felt safe, people felt they needed us around...without the red menace looming, everyone now is a closet revolutionary and sees america as the next imperialist menace

Maybe so, but there are a lot of people over there that hate Americans. I, too, would be afraid to venture out. So I will keep my yankee dollars at home.
