At five months old I gave my daughter rice cereal. You can give him rice for breakfast just give him an amount about has big has his fist. If you have already introduced him to fruits or vegetables then you can give them to him for lunch and supper, they say to give vegetables first and give the same thing at least 2 days to see if they are allergic to them. For tummy time just put some toys down on the floor and maybe get down on the floor with him and maybe he will want to play. My daughter started to laugh at 3 and 1/2 months but all kids are different. Oh on the how old to introduce food doctors say 6 months but it don't really matter most of the time. I hope I helped.
Good luck!

My son is 5 months old. On the advice of our pediatrician, I started him on baby food at 4 months. We started with rice cereal - just a few spoonfuls. Every 4 or 5 days I introduced a new food - bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, applesauce, and squash - I alternated fruits and veggies since most babies prefer the fruits (b/c they are sweeter). Go figure my guy prefers peas and carrots, lol. Anyway, we feed twice a day. I just keep offering it to him until he seems uninterested. He spent the first few weeks pushing it out with his tongue, but he is finally getting the hang of it. He takes about 10-15 spoonfuls now at each feeding - I give him cereal and a fruit and/or vegetable. We also introduced apple juice - I use the gerber brand b/c there isn't any sugar added. I water it down so it is 50% water, 50% juice.
I also introduced oatmeal cereal.

I was told to start with single-grain cereals and gradually move to multi-grain because the multi-grain is more constipating. The juices (and some fruits/veggies - prunes) cleared up the constipation really well.

I will be introducing pears, prunces, and white grape juice next. I started with Gerber #1 foods. We have been on them for a month. When we finish what we have left I will move him to Phase 2 Gerber foods. They are only supposed to get fruits, veggies & cereal to start with. And no oranges, strawberries, tropical fruits, etc.

During our tummy time I introduce toys to him - I shake them, put them in his reach so he will reach out and grasp them. Before he started grasping them and reaching out on his own, I would help him fold his fingers around them so he could learn to hold them on his own.

I got him the Vtech Move and Crawl Ball. It has numbers, shapes, and animals, lights up and makes noise, and it moves around on its own when you press the buttons. It encourages them to crawl and reach out.

Crawling should happen around 6 months, but don't be alarmed if it takes until 7 - every baby develops differently at their own pace.

My 5 month old started laughing about a month ago - but he would only do it when tickled or otherwise stimulated. Now that he is 5 months old he laughs much more - when we walk near him, pick him up, etc. It takes much less stimulus. It was pretty much an overnight change - one day last week he randomly started cracking up for no apparent reason - it is hilarious!

When he first started laughing we would tickle his belly with our noses (he laughs like crazy for that). We also hold him up high in the air, bounce him on our knees or tummies, and touch nose to nose. These get all sorts of giggles.

Good luck!

just once for a while. once a day. try to feed them food once every few weeks, hey will let you know when they are ready .i let my son taste things but reasearch what they cannot have b/c the list is long. they dont like what they dont like, my son hates tummy time but still rolls over, just let them cry a little and give them time, they will learn on their own pace. they laugh at about 3 1/2 months and goo about the same time...

good luck

well in the morning i would feed oatmeal or rice ceral..then bottles in between of course they sill need formula...then in the afternoon give a stage one carrots or sweet potatoes or any fruit in stage one...then the in between bottle again...and then for dinner give a meat dinner....then as he gets like 7-8 months start stage 2 dinners, veggies, and fruits...and then by time he is 10-11 months start stage 3 depending on how many teeth he/she has...and try and mix up the food every day...dont give the same thing everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner...and my son never likes tummy time he hated it...but buy him a activity mat with rattles and mirror he can look at himself in when he/she is on the tummy...go to babies r us they will recommend a good tummy time mat for you...he/she should be agoing any day now and you will love it..and then by like 6-7 months they will start laughing...good luck mom
