Each day calculate the exact difference from today to the absolute minimum legal age for purchasing cigarettes.
I.e. if it is 18 then go back 18 years to the day and write that down.
Keep this piece of paper in an area that only you can see, use it as a quick reference / cheat sheet.
Quickly compare your redline-date to their date of birth and decide whether to sell or tell them to get lost.

Work it out from today's date, and the minimum age.
If anyone's birth date is after today's date in this year AND their birth year is equal to or less than (the current year - the minimum age), then they are not eligible.
For example: today is 14th february 2007. say the age for buying cigarettes is 18. That means anyone born later than 14th february 1989 is less than 18 years of age is not eligible.
Therefore Someone born on 14th february 1989 is eligible, being exactly 18 years of age.
Someone born on 13th february 1989 is eligible, being 18 years + 1 day old.
Someone born on 15 february 1989 is not eligible being 17 years 364 days old. someone born on 16 february is not eligible being 17 years 363 days old, and so on.

Write down this year - 2007 (surprise) and subtract the year they were born. This will give you their age.
