Since an invention is some piece of advanced (advanced meaning not surpassed in capability) technology, won't mankind eventually come to a point when the then existing technology is so advanced that humans experience no need to create new inventions?
I have heard a similar scenario dealing with scientists attempts to mix computers with the human body, thus opening the possibility of a sort of artificial happiness, in which humans could solely create happiness through electrical or chemical processes. This happiness would stop all of mankind's progress because humans wouldn't have to do anything for entertainment and would no longer be challenged, or, at least, wouldn't be concerned with challenges. This would be the point in time in which inventions, things that make life easier, would become obsolete.
I suppose people would think up ways to invent the proverbial "better mouse trap", but it wouldn't be the same as inventing something truly important.
So, what do you think?

I agree.
Mankind only invents that which is immediately required out of necessity. If there is no need, there is no point in expending the funds and resources to 'create' this unnecessary invention.
As to the notion of artificial happiness, I would be uneasy with such a thing. To be healthy and 'moral' creatures (morality shall vary from one person to another) we require the ability to sympathize with others. All the emotions that are naturally found in man allow man to fully enjoy the world as it is. Otherwise we should find ourselves taking the world and its members for granted.

Robo-Man that you speak of is only as good and energy will allow it. Scientist may be able put a robot together and make it human, but it's not everything. They're are millions of things that could not be invented, liek the commonly mistaken Time Travel, it's impossible. and not just because i said so, but because science, time, and space won't allow it. Technology is only as good as the human brain can surpass. the human mind is an amazing thing, but it's not that bright...robo man may exist, and probably does with today's technology, but advancing the human brain. is it at all logical to make a robot smarter than tose creating them. you know what you know and that's all, nothing more that you know can enter a machine.

Everyday is something new for the eyes and mind to experience. We are always in motion that steps taken though monotonous however carry a source of information. In this respect, information for the mind and the eyes only see the need for change in whatever serving a purpose. Since each step taken is never the same, the information that tag along is changing as fast as the steps in motion. Therefore, ideas that relate to inventions are never constant, and forever invigorating the mind into more creation. It is possible to invent everything but does it make sense.

well we already create "chemical happiness" with anti depressants but i see what you mean in the future with bio mechical tech and genetic engineering we will be able to create anything so from a technology stand point we wont invent new technologies just new uses for them as we discover more about the universe and find out if quantum physics is more quantum or more physics i think that will be the most intresting devlopments i see , what do you think about humans blending living tissue with mechanical processes like can you imgine a living car it doesnt run on gas but on normal food like lettuce or whatever we want it to run on (however we gentically engineer it to be) could even be just pure rubbish or a space ship that an actual living thing that could support life indefinatly i think that will truely be an amazing time for the human race

Inventions will never cease.
Well, I don't think they every will.
Think about it, new things arise as time progresses.
not necessarily good things either.
Take diseases for example, AIDs, SARS, Anthrax, Mad Cow.
As time progresses more and more sicknesses will arise, and mankind will be put to the challenge once more.
The climate may eventually change, the sun may erupt in a supernova eons from this time period and may collapse into a black hole.
Mankind will constantly need to adapt to their environment.
I don't think the need for inventions will ever cease.
Hope this helps!

I don't think it's possible for mankind to invent everything. Eventually we'll come to a stop in which the complexity of the invention will become so hard, that we'll fail to perfect it. I mean it's true, we'll never stop learning, but in my opinion, there has to be some type of limitation.

It seems like we are nearing the point of not needing to create new inventions, therefore we get more frivolous inventions. I think that more and more inventions will eventually lead to our demise.

The question is not could we,but should we.Lets say that we invent a cold fusion bomb. Then people would just make up reasons to use it.
