This is a very good site on the rooms in a medieval castle, with explanations.
The main ones that spring to mind are the Great Hall; Solar; Kitchen; Buttery; Bottlery, etc. It's far too long to copy and paste, so here's the link:

I was assigned to read Joseph and Francis Gies' Life in a Medieval Castle while working on Chaucer last semester. Very informative, and copies start cheap at Amazon. My favorite was the buttery where they made the beer. After all, the water was unpalatable.
