INFO
-Cheesy as it sounds, www.virtualtourist.com has good info about most places on a variety of topics written by locals
-www.lonelyplanet.com and their thorn tree message board have tons of good info.
-I also like to go to www.flickr.com and type in the name of a city where I plan to visit to check out people's photos of the place and possibly get ideas about where to visit based on what looks cool.

TRANSPORT
www.bahn.de has all the train schedules for all of Europe if you're going by train.
www.seat61.com/ has a bunch of country specific train info about prices and scenic journeys.
www.easyjet.com or www.ryanair.com have very cheap flights if you are going to fly at all.
www.eurolines.com is the bus site.

ACCOMADATION
www.hostelbookers.com has hostel and guesthouse listings and bookings for all of europe if thats your budget/style. Any major travel site like orbitz or expedia will do if you'd rather be in hotels.

$$$$
www.xe.com is a good currency convertor site.

Sorry, I'm unable to recommend a website, but would strongly suggest going out and picking up a Western Europe Lonely Planet book.

The Lonely Planet books I love because they are very honest, good or bad.

I would definitely recommend on getting a basis of what you want to do, then work with a professional who can make sure your Europe trip goes smooth!

Lonely Planet is great, too.
Also, for cheap flights to europe check out www.kayak.com
